God of War Ragnarok: Resellers sell the game ahead of time and developers become furious

God of War Ragnarök arrives on November 9th and is one of the most anticipated games of the year. Some lucky would already have access to the game of some dealers who have not respected the release deadline. Spoilers are flourishing in the networks, mainly about the end of the game and the phases. The creative director of Santa Monica Studios, Cory Barlow , made it clear how disappointed with the behavior of these dealers and did not measure words.

An understandable disappointment for the team

God Cory Barlow went to Twitter to express his sadness:

Adding that he was more than disappointed with retailers who were selling the game almost two weeks before the release. The frustration of Cory and his colleagues from Santa Monica, who obviously expected more from the release of God of War Ragnarök, can be clearly understood than leaked physical copies.

Beware of Twitter, Reddit, YouTube and other networks not equipped with anti-spoiler protection if you really want to enjoy the game without receiving any leaks.

Return of the debate on physical or digital games?

This echoes the case of Modern Warfare 2, in which players with a copy of the CD were frustrated to find that the disc contained only 70 MB of data, literally just an installer that redirected them to a link to download the game, compared to a Digital version.

More recently, Electronic Arts was headline with rumors about the cessation of selling its physical games in various European countries, later denied by the studio.

We can therefore ask ourselves if it would not be bad to go to a 100% digital market. Certainly, the vast majority of resellers respect the release dates, but if this problem can be avoided...
